Boardworks SHUBU vs NRS Big Earl

Discussion started by Donna Riley 2 years ago
I am new to paddle boarding and am looking for input on the 2 inflatable boards I have narrowed down to. I am looking at the NRS Big Earl 4 (10'-6" x 30") or the SHUBU 10'2 wide (10'-2" x 34"). I am 5-7 and 130lbs. My husband would also use the board and he is 5-9 and 150lbs. I intend to start off on lakes, ocean, and class 1 rivers like the colorado in ruby horsethief canyon. Would like to work up to doing class 2 river runs eventually. I would also like to be able to have my kiddos ride on the board on flat water. They are currently about 40lbs. Does anyone have any info on either of these boards?
thanks for the help!

Both boards will float you just fine! That being said everything these days is going to 6 inch thick. Go with the Earl 6 or check out the Hala Nass from Halagear.com! The Hala is a great board for lakes, rivers an ever surfs ocean bumps well! I have used tht board in all conditions it's 12'6x31x6 that would be the perfect board!
