Iceberg SUP Golf

SAINT JOSEPH, Michigan - You may remember the insane story that we shared in January of filmmaker Seth Haley and Paddler Karol Garrison called Paddle Boarding Among Icebergs. This was an epic short documentary shot in the iceberg-ridden Lake Michigan and the photos and video from the film were stunning. Well, we're pleased to say that Seth and fellow photographer Josh Nowicki are at it again, this time with a quick and fun video called "Iceberg Golf."

To sum it up, Nowicki and Haley decided it would be fun to hit some balls from the remaining icebergs in Lake Michigan and use their SUP as a make-shift golf cart to get from berg to berg. We reached out to Haley and asked him to breakdown how he came up with the idea and how they went about executing it. Here's what he had to say…

"One super fun thing that happened was Josh jumped into the water golf club in mouth to swim over and hit the ball off as small an iceberg as possible." - Seth Haley

"Semi-jokingly Josh said "I would like to play golf out there." Josh and I both spend a lot of time at Lake Michigan and have been talking about various photo and video projects we could do on the lake. During one of these conversations we came up with the idea of using a SUP board as the golf cart to navigate our wintry green, otherwise known as icebergs on Lake Michigan. After some discussion we decided to make it happen! Enjoy our version of the ideal winter golf course."

"Myself being a filmmaker and Josh a photographer we're always looking for new ways to capture our surroundings, sometimes that means doing things some people call crazy or insane. We've been fortunate enough to create multiple highly viewed and viral videos this winter, including Paddle Boarding Among Icebergs, Skiing Smoke Bombs, and now Iceberg Golf."
