CARLSBAD, California — Boardworks, the manufacturer of high-performance surfboards, standup paddle boards, paddles, and accessories, swept the 2015 Supconnect Gear of the Year Awards. Boardworks’ Joy Ride Flow took home Best All-Around SUP with its stable and smooth ride. The lightweight and user-friendly Sirena scored Best Creative Design, and the Badfish SUP-designed Badfish MVP (Mountain Valley Paddle board) received Best River Gear.

The squad at Sup Think Tank is very proud to have their flagship product, the LiftSUP handle used in all three of the boards that received awards.

“We’re pretty much addicted to LiftSUP,” said Phillip Rainey, lead designer and all-around waterman for Boardworks.

The LiftSUP handle is a retractable handle that allows the user a significantly better way to carry, maneuver, control and manage their board. When not in use the handle sits flush with the deck of the board and has a small access hole to allow raising the handle for ease of grabbing and controlling on your way into or out of the water. One of the often over looked advantages of a flush, retractable handle as opposed to any handle that creates a large opening in the deck of a board is it eliminates the liability of jamming your foot/toes into that hand hole opening and the potential of breaking or injuring toes.

With tensile strength over 850 lbs and shear strength over 450 lbs the LiftSUP handle also provides a solid attachment point for a lock and cable to help deter theft. Made in the USA , the LiftSUP handle is produced by SUP Think Tank in Encinitas California. They are a highly devoted team of seasoned paddlers and waterman who are always looking for new and exciting ways to make the paddling experience better.

About SUP Think Tank

SUP Think Tank (STT) was born In 2010, by the creative minds of Matt Friedman and Brian Szymanski. In 2011 Friedman and Szymanski realized something was fundamentally missing from the SUP board transportation equation, and the LiftSUP board handle concept was born. After intensive design, engineering and some of the most rigorous testing available, LiftSUP came to be. It was an immediate industry game changer as the first ever, reinforced, injection molded handle designed specifically for standup paddle boards. Soon after, ConnexSUP, an on-board universal accessories mounting system was created and many of the leading boards in the industry now have either the LiftSUP handle or ConnexSUP mounting system or both!
