If you’re looking for the best place to SUP in the mountains, look no further than Colorado’s Western Slope.

Coursing through the heart of downtown Fort Collins, Colorado, the Poudre River is now home to the country’s newest whitewater park.

Colorado rafters, kayakers and standup paddleboarders will have a great new playpark to surf this spring when the new Eagle River Park opens in the town of Eagle.

In its first ever summer show in Denver, the Outdoor Retailer annual tradeshow brought a lot of changes to the to experience of the show for the SUP (stand up paddle board) industry. Changes were both good and bad but the overall change in venue seemed to be a positive one. Here are a few takeaways from the show.

The 2018 Golden Games are scheduled to take place May 18-20 in Golden, Colorado. The Golden Games was recognized by Elevation Outdoors Magazine as “Best Paddling Event in the Rockies” for 2016, 2017 & 2018.

After the Outdoor Retailer show announced earlier this year that they would be leaving Salt Lake City the big question of where they they would relocate to arose. Now, just weeks before their final Summer show in Salt Lake City the Outdoor Retailer has announced their new home: Denver, Colorado.

The GoPro Games really outdid themselves with the stand up paddle events this year. The number of competitors was higher than any previous year having close to 100 SUP athletes registered for the event. They spiced things up with the start for the SUP Cross event and they kept the crowd on their feet with the SUP invitational event.

The very exciting and highly anticipated GoPro Mountain Games are this weekend and it’s going to be a weekend filled with thrills, spills and excitement as the perfect way to kick into gear for the summer SUP season. The Vail Whitewater Race Series is a Tuesday night race series put on by Alpine Quest Sports. Every week the top competitors receive points for how well they finish. As usual, the Vail Valley Foundation put on a great event this year at the 2015 GoPro Mountain Games and Badfish/Boardworks athletes dominated the SUP events, taking 10 of 15 possible podium spots in the SUP events.
