Connor Baxter Claims Victory In Red Bull Heavy Water & Secures 2016 World Title

The first ever Red Bull Heavy Water stand up paddle board race saw optimal weather conditions with sunny skies and challenging conditions of 6-8ft waves in San Francisco on Wednesday. 15 of the world’s best watermen were tasked to a grueling 12km (7.5 miles) battle of athleticism, with the ultimate victor Connor Baxter, 22, of Maui, HI, crowned Champion of Red Bull Heavy Water.

2016 Red Bull Heavy Water Holding Period Now Open

As an official stop in the 2016 Stand Up World Series, Red Bull Heavy Water has started the holding period as of September 1st. The holding period will guarantee 40 of the world’s best SUP athletes waves over 10ft. on an open course that stretches 12km (7.5 miles), starting at Ocean Beach and finishing just past the Golden Gate Bridge.

Red Bull Heavy Water Announced As Addition To 2016 Stand Up World Series Circuit

Red Bull Heavy Water, arguably the most intense stand up paddling event in the world, is announced as part of the 2016 Stand Up World Series circuit, with an event window from September 1 to 28. The location will guarantee 40 of the world’s best SUP athletes, waves over 10ft. high, and consist of an open course that stretches 12km (7.5 miles), starting at Ocean Beach and finishing just past the Golden Gate Bridge.

Meet Northern California’s Rising SUP Star, Haakon Hoyer-Nielsen

Hailing from El Cerrito, California, Haakon Hoyer-Nielsen is rising the ranks in the stand up paddle (SUP) world in both SUP surfing and racing having become a podium regular in practically every event he attends. Haakon trains in the San Francisco Bay, has already finished his first Molokai 2 Oahu race, is a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, works year round as a lifeguard and consistently makes high honors as a sophomore at Saint Mary's College High School. Wild and Zur Win at Battle of the Bay SUP Race

Jay Wild takes first place in the men's elite division and Krisztina Zur wins amongst the elite women at the first annual Battle of the Bay Standup Paddleboarding Race held in San Francisco on October 29th.
