The first edition of the ISA World StandUp Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard Championship will take place February 19-25, 2012 on the beaches of Miraflores, Lima, Peru - home to the famous Waikiki Surf Club and the cradle of modern Peruvian surfing.

In one of the most dramatic and exciting Finals yet for the Stand Up World Tour, Bonga Perkins digs deep in the last minute of the heat to edge ahead of Kai Lenny (Naish) by the smallest of margins and take victory here at stop 1, the Sunset Beach Pro presented by Malibu and Starboard and in association with Maui Jim eyewear.

6 - 8 ft groomed Sunset was the order of the day as the very best in the world stepped up to do battle on day one of the Sunset Beach Pro presented by Malibu & Starboard and in association with Maui Jim.

After 3 lay days since the Da Hui Trials on Monday, athletes are now getting ready for a possible day of action tomorrow as the Main Event will get underway here at the Sunset Beach Pro, presented by Malibu and Starboard and in association with Maui Jim Eyewear.

With a challenging forecast that is certainly not lacking in swell, but has some challenging winds and storm surf to deal with, athletes were greeted with light and variable winds and solid surf for the first day of competiton at Sunset Beach.

The first day of the Sunset Beach Pro presented by Malibu and Starboard and in association with Maui Jim saw a beautiful day here at Turtle Bay Resort. It all started with an amazing Na Kama Youth Clinic.

Starting bright and early on Saturday morning will be the Na Kama Kai Youth Clinic, led by founder Duane DeSoto on the East side of Turtle Bay Resort. 

Rex Flodstrom was put in handcuffs and had his surfboard confiscated last Tuesday afternoon after a surf session on Lake Michigan in Chicago, Illinois.

Several of the high-profile names in stand up paddleboard surfing were on hand, including Kai Lenny, Zane Schweitzer, Sean Poynter, Antoine Delpero, and others.
