ABSECON ISLAND, New Jersey - The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation is proud to announce the date for the World Paddle Association (WPA) sanctioned and overall incredible Sixth Annual Paddle for a Cause.

This is a 22.5 mile paddle around Atlantic City Island (AKA Absecon Island in southern New Jersey), which will be held on June 22, 2013. It will commence at Golden Nugget Marina (Farley State Marina) and will include an amazing after-party to start at 4 pm, discounted suites at the casino for participants, prizes, a silent auction, live music, food, cash bar and so much more! For more information, visit www.deanrandazzocancerfoundation.org

Paddler’s commitment is what this 22.5 mile race around Absecon Island is all about! A minimum of $200.00 fund raising is needed for entry.

Paddlers are encouraged to complete the paddle on either a SUP or Prone paddle board. The event was founded by Mike May in 2008 and the course was designed to be a challenge, much like the challenge of what a person with cancer is faced with. However if 22.5 miles is too daunting a task, an 8 mile paddle has been added to the event. (still a challenge in its own right as paddlers will have to go against tide and wind at some point.)

Once again all paddlers are welcome to come out and paddle in one of many paddle classes and help raise much needed funds for individuals battling cancer.

There are two WPA sanctioned race divisions for Stand Up Paddle Boards. MEN 14’ stock and WOMEN 14’ stock.  Other paddlers that are welcome in the “open division” will include outrigger canoes, race kayaks, surf skis and team’s (consisting of 2 but no more than 6 paddlers) and unlimited SUP.  The Paddle will begin at 8am.

Paddlers will take on average 5-6 hours to complete the mission. If you live on the bay the DRCF encourages everyone to come out and cheer the paddlers on! You can also attend the finish or after party at the Golden Nugget where you can meet the athletes in person.
