Stand up paddlers converge on the beach just in front of the San Diego Canoe and Kayak Team Headquarters for some fun races.
SAN DIEGO, California - The San Diego Canoe and Kayak Team, and Stand Up Paddlers, invite all paddlers to their annual Paddle-A-Thon. Join them for a fun filled day of paddling on the bay Sunday June 9, 2013. The goal is to paddle 1000 KM!
What?
Paddle-A-Thon is an annual event hosted by the San Diego Canoe, Kayak & SUP Team (SDCKT). All money raised will go to towards a team van, scholarships for under privileged youth,·needed programs and will help support all Paddlers going to Nationals, Junior, U23 and Senior·teams as they prepare for Nationals this summer (August 7-11).
Why?
Use your paddling talent to help SDCKT as they raise funds to support their year round·programs.
Who?
Public is invited - Paddlers of all skill levels from expert to first time paddlers in Kayaks,·Canoes, prone and stand up paddle boards, out-riggers or dragon boats. We would like to see at·least 100 paddlers each paddling between 3km (single paddlers) to 20km (team boats) distances.·Our goal is to paddle at least 1000km!
New paddlers are invited to try out Canoes, Kayaks and SUP’s. Boats, paddles and life vests will be·provided.
When?
Sunday June 9 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the SDCKT boat house - 1750 Fiesta Island Rd., Mission Bay, San Diego, CA 92109.
Sponsorship:
Raise a minimum of $25 sponsorship – though the sky’s the limit! You can raise·sponsorship via self-funding, or with multiple sponsors. All forms and money will be collected on·the day of the paddling, no exceptions.
About SDCKT:
The SDCKT has a long-standing commitment to introducing the sport of canoe, kayak & SUP to our local youth and to·provide them with the foundation of skills, confidence and level of knowledge that produces life-long paddling·enthusiasts. Since 1997, program founder and former 1992 U.S.A. Olympian (Kayak), Chris Barlow strives to give youth·ages 8-18 an introduction to all forms of paddling sports with an emphasis on competition. He and his coaching team·share their passion for kayaking while instilling respect for the ‘Ocean and Bays’, environmental responsibility and·participation in community partnerships that sustain our natural resources. Currently, we are the only known ‘year·round’ youth paddling program in California.
