Rob Rojas and Anthony Vela talk to SUPconnect about the boards they used at the San Clemente Ocean Festival. With perhaps a bit of an edge due to gear choice, Rojas and Vela both placed well in the weekend's SUP events.
"Hey Rob" - someone on the beach, "What?" Rob Rojas, "Nice board" - same someone on the beach.

SAN CLEMENTE, California - On a beautiful, sunny southern California weekend, the San Clemente Ocean Festival hosted watermen and waterwomen in multiple competitions testing both endurance and skill. Rob Rojas proved yet again his prowess in the water by winning 1st place in the 10K Unlimited and 3.5 Mile 14' SUP races.
Racing his Ohana stand up paddle board, Rojas was able to gain a sizable advantage over the rest of the field, "I raced on my Ohana and that board is nice and stable; nice flat console that I like about it."
When talking about his win in the 10K, Rojas says, "The stability factor is huge out there, especially in the cross chop."
After the event finished, it was Rojas' skill on the water that proved to be unbeatable, "I am really happy with the way the board performed and, all in all, a great day of racing."
Below, Rojas talks about the events and his Boardworks Ohana SUP.
Racing alongside Rob, Boardworks team rider Anthony Vela chose to ride the Morrelli & Melvin 12'6 racing SUP. Vela finished 1st place in the 1K SUP Sprint Race, 1st place in the SUP Surf Relay and 2nd place in both the 10K and 3.5 mile SUP races.
Vela says, "The Boardworks Morrelli & Melvin works really good for me in and out of the surf. It surfs the wave in really well and pops over and through waves really well and it paddles really fast."
