Father / Daughter duo Joel (aka "Stoke Fungus") and Jhacoli (aka "Stoke-o-nut") paddling together.
SEATTLE, Washington - One of the most fantastic things about SUP is how it can bring people together and create camaraderie, respect and fun. ·These are valuable feelings that often get lost in our busy routines of daily life.
However, one SUPin' family from the Seattle, Washington area truly understands the importance of sharing happiness when it's readily available and has therefore really started going the extra mile to make sure that as many people as possible know about SUP, try it out and then feel the magic that comes with being a part of its community.
They are called "Village of Stoke," and stoke they definitely spread! Joel Yang, his wife Maia Desfosses-Yang and their daughter Jhacoli have decided that together they can do more. For years now, Joel and Jhacoli have paddled in tandem (on the same board) in quite a few races. Just seeing this daddy daughter duo on the water together has been enough to stoke out many people, however the family has taken "sharing the stoke" to yet another level.
Recently "Village of Stoke" created their very own online gathering place where people can come hang out with them and see the fun adventures that are taking place via their blog. They also physically gather together as much as possible and take out just about anyone who is interested in trying SUP for the first time. So, if you live in the Seattle area, you're in luck!
It's people like the Yang family who make stand up paddle what it it today and who will be the heartbeat of SUP for many years to come.
Hopefully we can all create a "Village of Stoke" in our respective areas. Supconnect salutes the Yang Family as some incredible SUP-Connectors! Way to go!
