Who is it for?
The Ranger by California Board Company is a standup paddle board designed for beginner paddlers who are looking for a non-inflatable and affordable paddle board. The Ranger is very stable having a 33in width on the deck and is great for beginner paddlers and those looking something solid on the water. The board will be best suited for short distance paddling and is designed primarily for recreation. The board is a bit heavy and difficult to carry, weighing just under 30lbs but it comes at a very affordable price of $599.
First Impressions
At first glance the graphics on the Ranger are neat with the fading blues on the deck and rails of the board. The shape of the board is exactly what you’d expect for an all around board and the design of the board offers some pretty cool features. In the center of the board on the deck there is a waterproof compartment where you can store personal items that you’d like to take with you which can come in handy. The handle of the board also doubles as a paddle holder which is a pretty neat feature. The board also seems durable as something that can survive tons of use but because the board weighs just over 29lbs is can be somewhat difficult to carry which also affects the glide of the board making it somewhat slow on the water. The Ranger is however very stable making it a board that everyone who can walk should be able to easily stand on and paddle away.
