Paddle Board Highlights
Who is it for?
If you’re looking for a fast, non-inflatable, premium race board to paddle competitively then the Javelin Maliko from Naish is worth a look. This stand up paddle (SUP) board comes in the Carbon Elite construction which is durable and also lightweight. Due to its 28 inch width the board is slightly unstable, however the board is fast. It has 1.94 lbs per foot and weighs 27.11 lbs total which is very lightweight for a 14 foot board. Its shape makes the Javelin Maliko a race board that can be used by intermediate paddlers and is designed primarily for competitive racing. Its construction and shape combined best fit this board for racing in various conditions. Retailing at $3,199, the board is among the premium price point but comes with the best that the brand has to offer.
First Impressions
On first impressions, the graphics and color are great, the shape design is quite thoughtful and the construction strikes as durable. The Javelin Maliko looks great and has detailed graphics that are displayed all throughout the board that are rather eye-catching. The shape design is unique for boards in these categories, offering features tailored primarily for SUP racing, and the construction appears light yet durable, as something that will survive constant but delicate use. This paddle board is pretty easy to carry considering its size and the glide feels fast, which is no surprise since lightweight construction and speed-centric design are at the core of this board model. The board was really fun to paddle and stood out compared to other boards in the category. And once you put it all together, the Javelin Maliko is a fast board that SUP race enthusiasts will have fun on and paddle with ease.
