Who is it for?
If you're looking for fast and stable board for touring and travel, then the inflatable Starboard Touring Deluxe Double Chamber is worth a look. This standup paddle board is designed with Starboard's Deluxe Double Chamber technology, which gives the board added firmness and stability on the water. The design of the board is quite thoughtful and its shape and add-ons makes it best suited for touring and cruising, however it also has a fast glide which is unique compared to other boards in this category. Its construction and shape combined best fit this board for mid-range distance paddling up to 3-5 miles. Retailing at $1,399, the Starboard Touring Deluxe Double Chamber is in the mid price point range and offers an incredible value for its price, earning it an A Grade rating.
First Impressions
That is just a phenomenal A-Grade board all around. It has incredible construction and feels really solid. It has a dual-chamber build, meaning that you have to inflate the outer chamber and then the inner chamber separately, which for a touring board is excellent because if you’re out and about and you have lots of things loaded on the board and the board starts deflating, the middle chamber will make sure that you’re still floating and so it serves as an excellent safety mechanism. The traction pad is very comfortable, there are lots of bungee cords for all your gear, the board bag comes with wheels which is really nice and convenient for transporting. It’s a beautiful package. The board does not come with a paddle so you want to make sure to buy a good paddle to go along with this board. The board also has a nice handle on the tail which helps make it easier to move it around. The pump that comes with it is also very nice and it comes with a leash and an FCS II Dolphin Fin which is another added bonus as this fin system requires no tools.
