Denmark has become the first country to announce a bid for the 2017 ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship. If successful, Denmark would become the first European country to host the World Championship. The ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship has never been staged outside of Latin America, so Denmark is hoping to play a leading part in showcasing the exciting and developing sport to a European audience.

Prestigious Pipeline SUP Invitational announced for January to showcase the sport at one of the World's most infamous waves. Pipeline, on the North Shore of Oahu is one of the most notorious waves in the world. We are proud to be able to announce that a selection of the World's best Stand Up Paddle surfers will have the opportunity to take on the Pipeline at a unique sporting showcase in January here on Oahu's Fabled North Shore.

One of the most talented ladies in our sport has just released a new edit of her time spent on Maui, her home away from home. Starboard and Werner Paddles athlete Fiona Wylde is an amazing multi-sport athlete excelling in not only stand up paddle surfing and racing but she’s also an incredibly talented wind surfer as well.

With stand up paddling (SUP) on the rise and the popularity of the sport reaching more people every year, we are seeing expedition paddling climb the ranks as an exciting and adrenaline boosting way to have a good time on your SUP. Expedition paddling has recently garnered the attention of survivalist Joel van der Loon who is planning on including stand up paddling into his next survival attempt which will be a seven-day expedition with no food, limited water and limited gear.

Is there a better way to explore Algarve’s remote marine caves than via SUP? Probably not. The Basecampers, who are a group of friends traveling around the world seeking alternative experiences in popular travel destinations, traveled to Faro in the Portugal’s Algarve region where Nick Robinson, a SUP instructor in the area, guided them through the legendary Benagil caves. Water enthusiasts can now enjoy exploring the beauty of Dibba by paddle board, thanks to a local watersports company who are opening up adventure travel of a different kind around the UAE in their popular Surf Bus.

On Black Friday 2015 REI closed their doors in hopes of inspiring people to go outside. A group a friends inspired by this message set out to have an epic day of adventure in Central Oregon and create a short film documenting the journey. These guys went paddle boarding on their Pau Hana SUPs, skiing, and mountain biking in the middle of a beautiful snowy winter in Bend, Oregon.

Tahiti is the perfect place for stand up paddling (SUP). It was even voted as SUP Destination of the Year for 2015 in the Supconnect Polls. The folks at F-One just released this incredibly beautiful movie featuring their Tahitian SUP ambassadors Aude Lionet-Chanfour, Poenaiki Raioha and Patrice Chanzy.

We do not know what is better: SUP on your favorite local lake or going on holiday. However, we reckon that it is even better when you combine these two. Starboard SUP announced this week that they will be launching a new initiative – growing the National Grassroots Team Program in the USA by enlisting 100 new Brand Ambassadors. “We see a lot of potential in the US market,” said Starboard CEO and brand visionary, Svein Rasmussen, “…and it all starts on the front lines with passionate locals who, like us, want to take SUP to the next level".
