SUPsquatch Ride Gains Entry Into XXL Awards

Seven surfers team up to paddle a 17-foot "Supsquatch" board into a set wave at Makaha, Hawaii on February 14, 2015. The ride has been entered in the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2015 XXL Big Wave Awards.

Maui Jim Announces Inaugural Oceanfest

Maui Jim Sunglasses announces the first annual Oceanfest at Ka'anapali Beach in June. Registration has officially opened for the event in which hundreds of the premier ocean sports athletes from around the world will gather in Lahaina, Maui, HI, from June 6 to 7, 2015.

Wrightsville Beach Hosting 1st Annual SUP Surf ProAm

The Wrightsville Beach Museum announces it's first SUP Surfing Pro-Am scheduled for April 17-19, 2015, kicking off the museum’s Annual Waterman Ocean Festival. The festival is a celebration of water sports and those local individuals who have contributed to both the community and their water sport(s) of choice.

Kai Lenny Wins the 2015 Sunset Beach Pro

In a nail-biter of a final, Kai Lenny left it until his last two waves of the final to win the #SunsetBeachPro. In what proved to be testing conditions through the day, the waves turned on for the final heats of what was a dramatic close to the 2015 Sunset Beach Pro.

Challenges Force World Record Attempt To Fail

Earlier last week we reported that Chris Bertish, in partnership with Cipla Foundation, was going to attempt a second try at breaking the world record for the current 24-hour stand-up paddleboard (SUP) world record. Unfortunately, due to extreme weather conditions and hypothermia, Chris had to withdraw from his 2nd attempt over 30km into his journey.

Paddle Boarding With Alligators

Alligators are members of the animal kingdom that can be pretty dangerous to be around. At the end of January 2015, Nick Halloran went paddle boarding with a few of his friends through Myakka State Park in Florida and they came across quite a few gators! There is even one point in the video where there is an extremely close call and he almost gets knocked off his BOTE board by the gator.

2015 will see the worlds first SUP and Surf Coaching and Development conference.  The aim is to professionally update existing coaches, share ideas and develop together regardless of existing affiliations or associations.
