It has been announced that the 2021 ICF stand up paddling world championships will be held from June 18-20 at Balatonfured, Hungary.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued its decision in the arbitration procedure between the International Surfing Association (ISA) and the International Canoe Federation (ICF) regarding the governance of the sport of Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP).

The International Canoe Federation has awarded the 2021 Stand Up Paddling World Championships to Balatonfured, Hungary, at a board meeting in Barcelona.

The International Canoe Federation’s first stand up paddling world championships finished with record viewing figures, record country and athlete numbers and record-breaking times after three days competition in Qingdao in China.

While the best paddlers in the world will catch most of the attention at this weekend’s ICF stand up paddling world championships in China, a determined group of athletes from all corners of the globe will also be determined to make their mark on the sport.

One of the veterans of modern-day stand up paddling and one of the most respected international voices in the sport will team up to provide world class livestream commentary at next week’s ICF SUP World Championships in Qingdao, China.

Many of the very best stand up paddlers from around the globe, including World and European champions, are among entries for the 2019 ICF world championships in Qingdao, China, later this month.

At the request of the Portuguese Surfing Federation (FPS), the Portuguese Court of Arbitration for Sport decreed an injunction against the Portuguese Canoe Federation (FPC), ordering it to refrain from organizing, collaborating or giving support to the 2018 ICF Stand Up Paddling World Championship, scheduled for August 30th to September 2nd, in Viana do Castelo and Esposende, and that circumvented the laws of the sport.

Athletes from all over the world, including Germany, USA, Spain, Great Britain, Mozambique, Algeria and France, have already registered for this year’s inaugural International Canoe Federation Stand Up Paddling World Championships in Portugal.

In a recent announcement made by the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Esposende, Portugal was announced as the location of their inaugural SUP World Championship to be held later this year. Now in a recent turn of events, the Portuguese Surfing Federation has made a statement saying that the ICF and this event will not take place because it is simply against the Portuguese Laws.

The International Canoe Federation (ICF) has expressed hope a resolution will be reached with the International Surf Association over the management of Stand Up Paddling (SUP) activities before the ICF hosts its first SUP World Championships in Portugal later this year.
