Picturesque weather and a solid south swell greeted paddlers on Friday morning as the 2016 Pacific Paddle Games presented by Salt Life kicked off at Doheny State Beach. With a record-breaking prize purse of $60,000 up for grabs, anticipation levels were high as the world’s best paddlers began their quest for victory at standup paddling’s biggest race of the year.
The world’s best paddlers are set to compete at the second annual Pacific Paddle Games presented by Salt Life this weekend (Sept. 30 to Oct. 2) at Doheny State Beach. With a $60,000-prize purse on the line, the most money ever offered in paddling, it’s no surprise that ALL of the top professionals in the world are en route to Southern California this week from around the globe.

The preeminent paddling event, offering a $60,000 prize purse, will take place at Doheny State Beach, a California State Park in Dana Point, Sept 30 through Oct. 2.

SIC Global Team Athlete Kenny Kaneko scored an impressive victory at the Hong Kong International SUP Championship 2016 presented by the Hong Kong Stand Up Paddle Board Association. Kaneko tore through the 13 mile (21 kilometer) elite course with a finish time of 2:28:28, leaving Kai Lenny and Casper Steinfath over 6 minutes behind with a 2:34:48 and 2:36:26 finish respectively.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) has today announced that the 2017 ISA World StandUp Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard Championship will be held in Denmark in September 2017, with the specific dates to be confirmed in the near future.
2016 was one of the most exciting years ever in the 20 years that the Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championships has been held. This year saw record breaking performances in both stand up paddling and prone paddle boarding and the field of athletes to compete was packed with standouts.
