After a frustrating week in Hossegor athletes traveled to Scharbeutz, Germany for a fresh start at the 2018 Mercedes-Benz SUP World Cup, the 7th stop of The Paddle League World Tour and week 9 of the EuroTour.
Tension is mounting as we are now just over a week away from the 4th stop on the 2017 APP World Tour, the Mercedes-Benz SUP World Cup. The World's best athletes will descend upon the beautiful seaside town of Scharbeutz in Germany to do battle for vital ranking points at what is the critical midway point of the season on the APP World Tour.
Stop #4 of the 2017 APP World Tour is quickly approaching and excitement is building as the action moves on from Japan and over to Europe for the Mercedes-Benz SUP World Cup in the beautiful seaside town of Scharbeutz, Germany.
The 2016 SUP World Cup in Scharbeutz Germany was a huge event. There was a huge crowd on the beach and a stacked field of competitors. After five weekends of racing in Europe, it was finally coming to an end as this was my sixth and final event in Europe for the summer.
After ratings leaders Fiona Wylde and Casper Steinfath took victory in the Sprints during harsh weather on Saturday, Sunday cleared up and provided excellent conditions for the distance race where Michael Booth and Sonni Honscheid pushed through to take the win. After the two races Connor Baxter and Sonni Honscheid claimed the overall win for the second stop of the Stand Up World Series.
The German stop on the Stand Up World Series has long been a gold standard for the sport of Stand Up Paddling, with a unique festival atmosphere, thousands of spectators and show to remember featuring the World's very best athletes. In 2016, the bar will be set even higher, as Mercedes-Benz has stepped up as a Title Partner and the event will be hosted in an exciting new venue that will bring the event to life for athletes and spectators alike.
