2016 Stand Up World Tour Season Opener Only Days Away

We are less than a week away from the kick off for the 2016 World Championship season, with the girls to do battle at Turtle Bay. With less than a week to go now until the 2016 Turtle Bay Pro, tension is mounting as the World's best female athletes prepare to do battle on Oahu's Fabled North Shore at Turtle Bay Resort.

Aggressive Shark Encounters With SUPs Being Reported On Maui

When we enter the oceans and waterways we are entering a realm in which we do not control. The creatures that call these bodies of water home are the true masters and we are merely taking a step, or in this case, paddle into their world. It is somewhat unsettling to report that in the waters off Maui, Hawaii there have been multiple incidents lately involving sharks becoming aggressive with paddle boards. Hawaii News Now reports that on Saturday January 23, 2016 a shark had bit a tourist’s paddle board about a half mile off the coast of Maui in Wailea.

20th Annual Hanohano Challenge Starts 2016 Off With A Bang

Once again, Mission Bay in San Diego hosted the 20th Annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge and the event did not disappoint. With gloomy skies for the majority of the day, the attitudes and demeanors of the athletes and spectators were anything but. Every direction you looked you saw smiles and heard laughter and cheers. The Hanohano is notorious for being a classic event with nothing but fun on offer and this year it once again lived up to that reputation.

Kai Lenny & Mo Freitas SUP Peahi

El Niño has been kind to surfers this winter season. With what seems like back-to-back-to-back swells there is nonstop fun for the wave riding stand up paddlers. Pro stand up paddle athletes Kai Lenny (Naish) and Mo Freitas (Focus SUP) are just a couple of the guys that have been benefitting from these recent swells and they have been getting some time in at the infamous Peahi, a.k.a Jaws.

Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge Will Kick Off The 2016 WPA Race Season

Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club and Huki Outrigger/Surfski present the 20th Annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge to be held in Mission Bay, San Diego, California on January 23rd, 2016. The Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge, a WPA sanctioned points race and flagship event for the SoCal Winter Racing Series, is one of the Longest Running Paddlesport Races in California offering access to all paddle crafts including OC-1 & 2, Surfski, Traditional Paddleboard, Standup Paddleboard and Kayak.

Expedition Paddling Down The Desolate South Fork Flathead River

In the beginning of October 2015 Gabriel Gray along with Jackson Berger and Casey Shedd packed via horseback with all inflatable SUPs and began the journey of a lifetime. The trip was completely off grid, without any reception, full of crazy adventure, and a test of grit and endurance due to unexpected water levels. Florida Woman Breaks Paddle Boarding World Record

Seychelle Hattingh has just accomplished an incredible task. Seychelle just broke the record for longest paddle (man or woman) in 24 hours, paddling 110 miles pretty much non-stop for 24 hours straight (her longest break was only around five minutes).  Seychelle broke the current record on December 5th and 6th, 2015 and did it all to raise funds to sponsor athletes from Florida Monroe County that participate in the Special Olympics.
