A perfect day of paddling at La Jolla Shores
LA JOLLA SHORES, California - The Jewel of Southern California
La Jolla Shores, (pronounced “La HOY-ya”) is located 12 miles North of San Diego County. The name La Jolla is a Spanish word meaning "the jewel." La Jolla, without a doubt, is deserving of this name.
La Jolla Shores Beach is a perfect spot for Standup Paddling for both novice and expert paddlers. From the beautiful bluffs to the Pier is approximately 1 mile. For a novice paddler, getting through the surf will be the main challenge if you plan on launching from the beach. There is, however a kayak launching site at the end of the main road in La Jolla. It’s a drop off only so you will have to drop off your board and park in public parking. The surf on this end of the beach is usually smaller and more manageable to get out past the surf.
La Jolla Shores is also a perfect spot for Standup Paddle Surfing and it’s becoming a favorite among the locals who have been surfing here for years.
La Jolla also has some great restaurants for that post SUP experience. So get out and enjoy SUP’ing at La Jolla Shores!
