Florida Retiree Completes 140-Mile Everglades Expedition

Most people celebrate retirement by taking a nice relaxing vacation and throwing a party with family and friends. For 58-year-old Mitch Lagowski, adventure was on the mind, and that he did. Upon his retirement, Mitch planned and completed a 140-mile expedition from Marco Island to Islamorada through the Florida Everglades, solo and unsupported. We caught up with Mitch to chat about his trip, check out our convo below.

“You’re going to do what?” Said the National Park Ranger in Yellowstone after I had just told him of my objective to circumnavigate Yellowstone Lake on a standup paddleboard. Bart de Zwart Finishes World’s Longest Race on a SUP

The Yukon 1000 is the world’s longest canoe race and takes place every other year. The Yukon 1000 is a 1,000 mile, self-supported race from Canada into the Alaskan backcountry and finishes in the Arctic circle. This year Bart de Zwart and his teammate Ike Frans finished the race in first on their stand up paddle boards. First SUP Descent Of Europe's Deepest Canyon

For the first time in history five stand up paddlers - Vallentin Illichmann, Stéphane Pion, Nicolas Fayol and Stetcher twins Mario and Manuel - have successfully completed a self-supported descent of the deepest canyon in Europe, the Tara River Canyon. The four day, 150km SUP journey took the expert team through the Tara River from the Dynamic Alps of Montenegro to the Bosnia border.
