BENTON, Tennessee - Everyone is invited and welcome to participate in the inaugural Ocoee SUP Race this Sunday October 14th! It is 4.38 miles of continuous and technical Class III/IV terrain which will make it amongst the most challenging whitewater sup races to date.
The race course is on the middle Ocoee from the put-in eddy to just below Powerhouse Rapid. Paddlers will be released at 1 minute intervals and the time keeper raft will be in the river right eddy below Powerhouse Rapid.
For many it is important to know that the race was moved from Saturday, Oct. 13 to Sunday the 14th so that participants can attend the memorial service for Jeff West, which will be held that day at the Ocoee. A cabin will be available at OAR Saturday night for members staying in the area (space is limited) as well as regular camping facilities.
Hurry and come out to Tennessee for an incredible time!
Tips and Info for Participants:
Verify your race number with time keeper before continuing to take-out.
Registration and number pickup will be at the upper parking lot of the middle put-in.
There will also be an after party benefiting First Descents which will begin at O.A.R. immediately following the race.
All paddlers competing in the race must wear an approved PFD and helmet.
On-water safety will be set up along the river at key locations.
Registration for the event is located on the TVCC site: http://www.tvccpaddler.com/Ocoee_Race.html
