NEWPORT BEACH, Calfornia - The 2nd annual Standup For The Cure 2013 was a huge success. ·The money raised by the event this year has already surpassed the amount from 2012 and everyone is very excited.

A year ago, the young and energetic Zane Schweitzer, along with his family, committed to playing a large role in planning and executing the inaugural "Standup for the Cure" standup paddleboard event in Newport Beach, California. It was to be an effort to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer.  This struck a cord with the Schweitzer family as they had been directly affected by the disease two years earlier when their dear friend Judie Vivian was diagnosed.  In fact, "Standup for the Cure" is Judie's brainchild and her way of giving back and helping other women become breast cancer survivors like herself.

This year, the Schweitzer Family and Judie Vivian were still 100 percent involved and were really excited that the second annual event had even more people attending than before.  Unofficially there were more than 1000 people who registered and participated in the paddleboard races and other festivities and every $125 raised will potentially save a life by enabling a mammogram.

With other raffles and fundraising also taking place all day, there is much anticipation for the final numbers as to how much money was ultimately raised.  In any case, the amount is large and generous and all those involved such as event coordinator Dan VanDyck should feel confident in another job well done.

Once again, Congratulations to everyone on a great day where so many people were able to, "Have Fun and Save Lives."
