SUP in White Water w/ the Element Tour

While kayaking in Montana, Seth Warren and Tyler Bradt became friends and later set foot on the road together to become one of a kind ambassadors for outdoor fun and sustainable life. As the faces of the Element Tour, these two travel around the world on a retired Japanese fire truck called “Baby,” which runs 100% on vegetable oil and generates electric power along the way. The tour encourages children to get outside and play and teaches them about the importance of being environmentally minded. “Since creating the Elements Tour in 2006, Seth has given presentations to more than 300,000 people, among them 40,000 students and teachers,” according to their website (http://www.elementstour.com).

And during some of their travels, Warren and Bradt, whose primary sports are kayaking and skiing, became enamored with stand up paddling, an explosive new sport where the rider stands on a board and propels himself using a paddle. Boardworks Surf quickly became the board sponsor of the crew and set them up with all the gear to get them rolling – figuratively, not literally, of course. With board and paddle in tote, the duo quickly welcomed the new challenge and took stand up paddling to many white water destinations.

Only a few days into their stand up paddling craze, they threw a personal twist to the sport by attaching a float to the boards and converting an inflatable couch into a down river device. As someone quickly noted, “they just need the beer dispensers on those helmets,” noting the leisurely presentation of the sit-down paddling device. Were it not couched in so much danger, the Elements Tour’s spin on stand up paddling could become quite popular  – pardon the pun.
