NEWPORT BEACH, California – The Suplove stand up paddle (SUP) company looks to harness the energy of their fan and customer base to gather the paddling community together in Hawaii to promote and raise funds for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF).

During the same weekend as the party, one of the most prestigious stand up paddle events in the country, the “Battle of the Paddle” will go off at Duke Kahanamoku Beach (Waikiki) in Honolulu. With the Battle of the Paddle and the large community of local paddlers, Suplove plans to create a memorable and successful event and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to JWCF. The event will not have a cover charge or require an invitation, and will be open to paddlers, locals, tourists and all friends (new and old) of Suplove and JWCF. Read about the details of the BOP HI, watch last year's video, and find out what's new this year.

The “Suplove Share the Love Party” will be on Saturday May 14th, from 6-9pm at the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort and Spa that is located at 2365 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96815, Phone: (808) 922-3111. The event will be set at the “Banyan Courtyard”, adjacent to the historic Banyan Tree and Beach Bar, with stunning views of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. There will be live Hawaiian music and Hula Dancing from The Dennis Atlwek Duo at 6pm, a live auction at 8pm and music from Lawrence Kitter to follow the auction. A satellite bar will be set up and will feature drinks that may be purchased with 100% of proceeds going to JWCF. “Kama'aina” (local discount) specials will be offered to guests who would like to enjoy food from the Moana Surfrider. Hawaiian Vodka has donated product to enable the bar to direct all of its earnings to JWCF.

Many large prizes have been donated and will be on display at the silent auction table throughout the event. The “big ticket items” will be moved to “live auction” status at 8pm so party-goers can challenge each other and fundraising efforts can be maximized. Prizes such as stand up paddleboards, kayaks and Moana Surfrider room nights, spa treatments and dining certificates will all be up for auction. Donated auction items and drinks can be purchased at the party via cash, credit card or check made out to the “John Wayne Cancer Foundation”, a non- profit 501(c)(3) charity. Join the Sup Races group on Sup Connect for Updates.

Suplove’s interest in planning the fundraising party stemmed from their drive to get involved in supporting stand up paddle camps for cancer survivors. This past April, JWCF partnered with “Athletes for Cancer” to fund and put on a cancer survivor support group SUP/Surf camp in Maui, HI. Suplove looks forward to a day when they can see these camps grow and, soon, they would like their support to help bring the camps to Southern California, where Suplove is based.

In addition to having fundraising goals, JWCF and Suplove hope to leverage this event to promote "Team Duke", an athletic fundraising program developed by JWCF to empower athletes to support the fight against cancer through their chosen sport. With all eyes on Battle of the Paddle during the weekend of May14-15, JWCF looks forward to reaching out to water sports athletes and to get them involved in fighting cancer through paddling. “I believe that we can not only achieve our fundraising goals, but also that this party offers the opportunity to support a great SUP event and it’ll really allow the SUP community to come together, in a fun, non-competitive environment, to achieve an amazing result for JWCF”, said Debbie Johnston, Co-Owner of Suplove.
