SAN DIEGO, Callifornia - The sun is setting on phase one of the 2012 Supconnect SUP Man Of the Year Awards. ·After 3 weeks of nominations and voting there are only days left to vote and tell us who you think deserves to be among the elite SUP Men of 2012 in preparation for phase 2!
The first phase of the 2012 Supconnect SUP Man of the Year Awards will only last 1 more week before launching the second phase. This means that time is running out and this is the last and final call for all stand up paddlers world wide to nominate and vote for the men who deserve this title the most! Spread the word and help those who are outstanding SUPers and excellent people off the water as well, to gain the chance to join the top pre-seeded men in the final voting process.
The second phase of the 2012 Supconnect SUP Man of the Year Awards will include 20 pre-seeded elite athletes along with the top 5 stand up paddlers from the open nominations, happening now, in phase 1. Voting will start over again in phase 2 and these results coupled with other factors and criteria will determine a winner.
Currently the top 5 men from the open nominations are 1. Shane Perrin with 168 votes, 2. Zane Schweitzer with 123 votes, 3. Fernando Stalla with 114 votes and 4. Daniel Hughes with 58 votes. The real race at the moment, however, is for the 5th and final spot which currently looks to be between Michael Tavares of Boardworks Surf, Chris Stephan of Suplove SUP and Mike Vaughn Jr. of ProSupShop. Michael Tavares has 47 votes, Chris is currently totaling 45 and Mike Vaughn is following with 36 votes. This is going to be a close race to the finish over the next week, so stay tuned and participate by spreading the word, nominating and voting on the Supconnect facebook page.
Also keep a close eye this week on the Supconnect facebook page for the final unveiling of the pre-seeded athletes and a chance to begin voting for the ultimate 2012 SUP Man winner. Remember that there are several factors which will determine who wins that go hand in hand with the voting process.
