Overview:
Paddle Board Highlights
Who is it for?
The EasyRider from BOTE is an inflatable standup paddleboard / kayak hybrid. This board is beginner-friendly, very stable and works well for paddlers up to 250lbs. The EasyRider is best used in flatwater, calm conditions and shorter distances close to shore. This board comes in a complete package with everything you need to get on the water, including the compatible kayak seat attachment. The full package offers the board, sup/kayak convertible paddle, pump, kayak seat attachment, fin, repair kit and travel bag. At $649 this package is quite affordable for all it offers.
First Impressions
When it comes to the graphics, the EasyRider definitely pops and has a really nice mix of orange and blue tones that carry throughout the entire package. From the board to the paddle, to the backpack and kayak seat the package has a really nice graphical touch throughout which for BOTE is something we’ve come to expect. They always have done and continue to do an excellent job on design and branding. For the board itself, it has a ton of add on features that really add a nice touch package. It has added handles on the nose and tail of the board that allows carrying to be much easier or being able to grab hold of the board much easier. Then, it features a set of 6 d-rings along the rail of the board in the center of the deck that allow for the kayak seat attachment among other things. And, at the nose you have a nice bungee system to hold down extra gear if/when needed. Another cool feature is their signature Magnepod attachment point which is a magnetic drinkware and accessory attachment feature that holds added gear like your water bottle in place via magnet. Pretty cool and very unique design point! You can tell by these features alone that the design put into the board behind-the-scenes was very well thought out. When carrying the board it was a bit on the heavier side for an inflatable but nothing to where it is unmanageable. Also, the width of the board hinders carrying a bit but again, with help or the use of BOTE’s carrying system transporting the board from your vehicle to the water should be manageable. On the water, this board was SO stable. Again, due to the width here. This definitely is something that is a must for these SUP/Kayak hybrids so the Easyrider here delivers. The glide is on the slower side however so if you’re looking for a board that goes a bit faster you might want to look elsewhere. When converted to a kayak, the seat included is surprisingly comfortable and stable. The aluminum paddle that’s included is also really nice and is adjustable and convertible from a SUP to a kayak paddle within seconds. Overall, the Easyrider from BOTE is a high-quality kayak/SUP hybrid board at a reasonable price and would be great for someone that also loves to fish or haul a bunch of gear on their paddles. With that, we’re giving this board the A-grade in the Hybrid category.
