BARCELONA, Spain - Stop 1 of the 2015 Stand Up World Series, The Iberdrola Barcelona SUP World Series, will kick off this weekend as the World's best descend upon the Catalan region of Spain for a dramatic and prestigious Opener for the 2015 Stand Up World Series. With the first rung on the ladder towards a World Title at stake, coupled with $25,000 prize-money, the World's best will be putting it all on the line at the Barcelona SUP World Series this weekend.
The event will be a celebration of the Sport as a whole, with World Series Racing for the best of the best, but also Open, entry level and youth racing, coupled with a unique festival atmosphere and entertainment that will showcase Barceloneta Beach as the ideal venue for a high profile event of this kind. This first stop on the 2015 World Series, will also serve as the Opener for the European Cup this year, as the 3 event Cup will then head to Sieravuori, Finland next weekend (2nd - 4th July), and close in style at the Surf Expo in Italy from the 24th - 26th July.

A return to Finland for the European Cup leads straight on from the World Series Opener in Barcelona at this truly unique destination.
Finland represents the true North of Europe, providing a great contrast to the Southern European stops of the Cup in Barcelona and Rome, Italy. The Sieravuori Masters will showcase Finland's stunning surroundings with the beauty of the region coming to life through the dynamic racing courses.
With a growing paddling community up in Northern Europe, this European Cup event serves as a great showcase for the sport, and an opportunity for paddlers to step up and measure themselves against some of the world's best paddlers.
The location also offers a unique 'Midgnight Race', with the sun setting for just a couple of hours at this time of year, providing a unique opportunity for visiting paddlers.
