LOS ANGELES, California - Clean water is worth standing up for. On April 16, nearly 300 clean water supporters demonstrate their enthusiasm for one of our most important resources while enjoying a fun filled standup paddle board race and celebration — Stand Up for Clean Water. 2016 guests include Robert F. Kennedy, Anthony Vela, Aidan Gallagher, Erika Benitez and more!
Stand Up for Clean Water features two-mile, five-mile and kids stand-up paddle races as well as a post-race award ceremony and beach party. Attendees will enjoy live music, silent auction, raffle and food and refreshments catered by Paradise Cove Beach Café, Tail o' the Pup, Ninkasi Brewing Company and Patrón Tequila. Stand Up for Clean Water is a Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series Event presented nationally by Toyota and locally by Whole Foods Market.
Stand Up for Clean Water brings the community together in the name of clean water and outdoor fun. By attracting stand-up paddle board competitors, celebrities, clean water leaders and the local community, the annual benefit raises awareness and funds that support the water restoration and protection work of Los Angeles Waterkeeper.
To pay homage to one of Waterkeeper’s renowned programs, MPA Watch, the race takes place on the Point Dume State Marine Reserve. This Marine Protected Area (MPA) restricts fishing but encourages non-consumptive recreational uses like paddling and diving.
