AUSTIN, Texas - Local Austin non-profit The Flatwater Foundation held it's annual fundraising event, Tyler's Dam That Cancer, for the seventh year, exceeding their fundraising goal of half a million dollars, raising $515,000 to help fund critical mental health programs.
This year was the biggest year yet, with 160 participants paddling the 21-mile journey on standup paddle boards from dam to dam on Lake Austin, culminating in a celebration at the LCRA Lawn to welcome the paddlers to shore.
Party-goers enjoyed live DJ entertainment by DJ Abe the Assassin, food and drinks by sponsors including NadaMoo!, Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew, KCCO Beer and Mighty Swell Cocktails, a live auction and raffle, with 100 percent of donations and proceeds going to The Flatwater Foundation to continue their mission to provide mental health services to those affected by cancer.
It was a beautiful day all around at the 2016 Tyler's Dam That Cancer Event.
