BOLOUGNE, France - Lizzie Carr has made history as the first female to stand up paddle board across the English Channel solo. Carr paddled the 24-mile channel for over seven hours and along the way collected water samples for micro plastic analysis for her efforts surrounding #Plastic Patrol.
On her Facebook page Carr wrote, “I DID IT!! Today I became the first female in history to solo paddle board across the English Channel - and all in the name of #PlasticPatrol. I left Dungeness with two dolphins dancing round my board and finished in Bolougne with a Sea Lion staring me in the face - if that's not the sign of a great day then I don't know what is. Thank you SO MUCH for all your words of support and encouragement - I've read every single message, text and email and they all meant so much! Next step is to analyse my micro plastic sample and there will be a blog up soon about the highs and lows of today too!!”
Carr paddled across the channel on an inflatable paddle board by Red Paddle Co. She paddled the 13’2 Explorer model.
