SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Have you heard of Hobie’s new Mirage Eclipse? If not, you’re about to because this new product featured at this year’s Outdoor Retailer show was all the rage! To sum it up, the Mirage Eclipse is basically a mix between a SUP and an elliptical.
The Mirage Eclipse made its official debut at the 2016 Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, Utah, and people just couldn’t stop talking about it. It’s different, it’s new, and it’s exciting! Though the Mirage Eclipse isn’t technically a stand up paddle board when fully set up (there’s no paddle, but rather a handlebar for steering), it definitely is a crossover product of the sport. But what’s exciting about this product is that the handlebars can easily be removed and it turns right back into a traditional stand up paddle board.
The Mirage Eclipse works on a rudder system with the pedals on the board being your propulsion and the bike-like steering system to control where you go. The handles have hand-levers like those found on a bike and depending on which way you want to go (left or right) just squeeze the handle of the direction you want to go.
What’s great about this product is that it is truly something that anyone and everyone can do. You can bet these will be the next big push into SUP fitness and will be used in fitness classes anywhere there is water. To see and learn more about Hobie’s Mirage Eclipse, check out the videos below.
