LAHAINA, Hawaii – Pink is the theme this fall during Breast Cancer Awareness Month as Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa hosts its third annual Maui Paddle for a Cure event on Saturday, October 1. Maui Paddle for a Cure is a fun, non-competitive event for stand up, kayak and canoe paddlers along the beautiful shoreline of Ka’anapali Beach that raises funds to benefit Susan G. Komen Hawaii’s mission of supporting and promoting collaborations among Hawaii’s healthcare providers and organizations and implementing culturally sensitive breast cancer education, awareness, prevention and treatment programs. Last October, Hyatt Regency Maui more than doubled its fundraising goal and raised over $36,000 for Susan G. Komen Hawaii, the largest community or corporate fundraiser to benefit Susan G. Komen Hawaii to date. In 2016, Hyatt Regency Maui seeks to raise $50,000 through all donations and registration fees for the event.
“We are incredibly honored to once again partner with Susan G. Komen Hawaii and look forward to another outstanding fundraising event in October,” said Allan Farwell, General Manager at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. “Exceeding last year’s goal was a wonderful victory, and we’re excited to bring our guests and community together again to increase awareness for breast cancer and raise funds for this important cause.”
Presented in partnership with The Butterfly Effect, this year’s Maui Paddle for a Cure will take place starting at Hanakao’o Beach Park (Canoe Beach) on Saturday, October 1 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Resort guests and the members of the Maui community 18 years and older are invited to an open paddle along Canoe Beach by stand up paddle board, kayak or canoe, all to benefit this important cause. Following are the three different courses that will be offered:
- Beginner – SUP clinic and guided paddle: SUP Clinic will be hosted by professional water athletes and Tatiana Howard, founder The Butterfly Effect. The clinic will cover the basics of paddling and conclude with an optional guided half mile paddle. The clinic will be limited to 20 participants.
- Intermediate: 2 mile paddle from Canoe Beach to Black Rock and back.
- Advanced: 4 mile course from Canoe Beach to Westin KOR and back for experienced paddlers and canoe paddlers.
Additional Paddle for a Cure details including sponsors, pre-paddle activities, events and more will be announced in the coming weeks. For more information regarding Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, please contact the resort by phone at 808.661.1234, or visit the resort website: click HERE.
