Lina Augaitis Wins Event In Abu Dhabi

SIC Maui atlete Lina Augaitis victorious in Abu Dhabi  

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - April 17, 2014 - The desert location set the perfect scene for stop #2 of the SUP World Series. With temperatures in the 100’s (F), SIC’s Lina Augaitis was ready for the long distance race. After an amazing start on her SIC X 12 PRO, Lina jumped out to the front and then began to pull away from the pack. However, halfway through the race Lina made an error heading the wrong direction causing her to lose valuable time and give away her lead. 

Despite the minor error, Lina reclaimed the top spot and and managed to pull away from the rest of the field. “I Had a little brain fart and made a wrong turn” said Lina. “ I want to say thank you to Angela Jackson for yelling and getting me back on the right course.” Lina was not satisfied with simply winning the long distance race, but also took 2nd place in the sprint event. This consistency and dominance of the field earned Lina the overall top spot at stop #2 in Abu Dhabi. Lina Augaitis and the whole SIC family is eager to see Lina compete the rest of this year.

Lina Joined the SIC family in December of 2013 and has gone undefeated. On her new SIC’s, she has won 6 out of the last 6 races that she has entered. “We are so proud of Lina and the commitment she has to being number one in the world”, said Braly Joy of SIC, “We are very happy to see her have this great success so fast on our new boards and we think 2014 is going to be an amazing year for team SIC and Lina”.
