MISSION BAY, California - Yesterday the annual Hanohano race took place in Mission Bay, San Diego, California.
The weather was the opposite from the previous years race which smothered racers and spectators with traditional sunshine and 85 degree Fahrenheit weather. This year the rain came down, visibility was very poor and the temperature was a cool 60 degrees.
While this weather is still extremely mild in comparison to the majority of the United States in the month of January, the less than great conditions for southern California did not take away the SUP stoke from those who attended the event.
Dan Van Dyck, the event coordinator informed Supconnect that there were still over 400 paddlers and it seemed evident by looking a the faces of those who attended that this was an incredible start to the 2013 year for SUP racers in this part of the world.
