SAN DIEGO, California - There is big news afoot for competitive paddlers and enthusiasts. On December 31, 2013, the Stand Up Paddle Athletes Association will officially form and become "a unified voice for stand up paddle athletes, while also representing the interests of stand up paddle board officials, sponsors, media, consumers and manufacturers."
The continued growth stand up paddle boarding, especially in the competitive arena, has created fertile ground for an association like this to exist. SUPAA's primary objectives includes the creation of a unified, global race rulebook, board restrictions and youth development programs. While creativity in the competitive realm of paddling is constantly changing the way competitions are run, it's imperative that a standard is created for the sport to grow.
The board members include a selection of the best athletes and ambassadors - a group of individuals who are more than qualified to carry out the SUPAA's objectives.
