5. Battle of the paddle moves to Salt Creek
~ HEAT SCORE {60} ~ The biggest Stand Up Paddle Race of the year, the Battle of the Paddle California, has officially been moved up the road to Salt Creek. For the last six years the BOP has taken place in the calm, contestable waters of Doheny State Beach, but the relationship between the State Parks and race organizers hasn't flourished along with the event, causing a shift in venue. Click here for more details about the BOP 2014.
4. How Not To DROP IN AT MAVERICKS
Jamie Mitchell experiences a close encounter. from Powerlines Productions on Vimeo
~·HEAT SCORE {69}·~ We're a big fan of guys pushing the limits of big wave SUP surfing. It's awesome to see people charging, especially when it's at a lineup as intense as Mavericks. However, this little clip that popped up this week doesn't have the happiest ending. Dropping in alongside Jamie Mitchell, this hardcore chap gives us a good look at the price you pay for taking SUP to places - over the ledge of one of the heaviest waves in the world.
3. Watch An Extreme SUP SNOW VIDEO
~·HEAT SCORE {71}·~ Our jaws nearly dropped when we saw yet another SUP amalgamation video drop - this time for extreme snow SUP'ing. A few members of the Pau Pyrénées Stand Up Paddle Club decided to make the best of the weather conditions and put their inflatables to good use. It's pretty awesome viewing and definitely on our list of SUP alternatives to try next winter.
2. Supconnect Is Hiring!

1. BOTE FEATURED ON 'THE FACTS OF FISHING'
~·HEAT SCORE {89}·~ Right alongside SUP yoga, one of the branches of stand up paddling that is developing at an amazing rate is SUP fishing - a beautiful union between two awesome leisure activities. It's gotten so popular, David Mercer even did a full feature on SUP Fishing on his show, the Facts of Fishing (see above), riding a BOTE board. It always gets us stoked to see SUP featured by the mainstream media. Click to see the video.
