Gear Giveaways Coming Up At Ocean Ocean Minded Holiday Board Bash

SAN CLEMENTE, California - Going into their second year hosting this event, the Holiday Board Bash (HBB) has become an annual giveaway celebration for Ocean Minded. The HBB is an online sweepstakes that comes to life during a live broadcast where they'll announce the prize winners, chat with partnering brands, organizations and brand ambassadors, and have an all around, good time! The sweepstakes will be hosted on the Ocean Minded Facebook page and will kick off on Monday, November 11th, and will run until Monday, December 16th at 11:59 PM PST. Once the sweepstakes closes, winners are chosen at random and announced during a 30-minute live broadcast event presented by SUPConnect on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:00pm PST. To enter, simply follow the link to the Ocean Minded Holiday Board Bash Facebook page.

To give you all some more juicy details more about the Holiday Board Bash, we spoke with Lanette Jorgensen, the Communications and In Store Marketing Manager at Ocean Minded. Here's what she had top say: 

A look back the Ocean Minded Holiday Board Bash, 2012
Supconnect: Can you tell us about the Holiday Board Bash - how did the idea come about and what's it all about?

Ocean Minded: The Holiday Board Bash came about last year when we were brainstorming on ways to give back to the friends and fans of Ocean Minded  and celebrate the holiday season! We run sweepstakes throughout the year, so we wanted this one to be much larger, fun and totally different from anything else we've done. We also wanted to revisit our roots and do something a little more 'core' within the industry, so giving away surfboards, standup paddle boards and skateboards in a sweepstakes seemed like the best way to do it!

Then we decided it would be unique to announce the winners during a live broadcast, instead of just announcing them on our social media channels. This allowed us to really reach our fans on a more personal level and really put a name and face to brand because the two people who managed the Ocean Minded social media efforts were literally the one's hosting the show! It also opened the door to a variety of other opportunities in addition to announcing the winners, such as interviewing our brand ambassadors, chatting with representatives from our participating brand partners, talk about our work with non-profit organizations, and just have a fun time with the whole thing overall.

Supconnect: What are the prizes this year and who's involved?

Ocean Minded: Last year we gave away fewer boards and more accessories , including sunglasses, watches, wetsuits, etc. To make this year a little bigger and better, we wanted to host a true 'board bash' and focus on giving away larger ticket, board prizes. We're giving away up to $5,000 in prizes this year, which includes a RuffOut Collection footwear package from Ocean Minded, a Current model skateboard from Koastal, a Derek Nobbs artist series Fish GT skateboard from Arbor,  a Timbertek Surfboard from Firewire, a hand shaped surfboard from T Patterson Surfboards, a Mod Shubu Inflatable standup paddle board from Boardworks with a Kanaha Paddle from QuickBlade, and a Infinity Team Label standup paddle board with a hand-painted paddle from Riviera paddle. 

In addition to giving away these prizes, the live broadcast will also feature interviews with Ocean Minded brand ambassadors such as Candice Appleby, Rusty Long, Lulu Erkeneff, Gillian Gibree and Thomas Maximus, the Surfrider Foundation, and will be hosted by the wonderful Anthony Vela and yours truly. This year we are also extremely excited to have SUP Connect present the event. You guys have been a crucial element and tremendous help in taking the Holiday Board Bash's live broadcast to the next level. We're so grateful for all of the brands, organizations, and brand ambassador's who have supported event in the past two years, and we cannot wait to see it all come together now that we have SUP Connect hosting the live broadcast event! 

Supconnect: How do people enter?

Ocean Minded: People enter online through the Ocean Minded Facebook Page. There is a Holiday Board Bash tab that they can click to enter and if they share the sweepstakes after, they'll receive a bonus entry as well! 

Supconnect: What are the dates and when is it being broadcasted?

Ocean Minded: The Holiday Board Bash launched two weeks ago and will run until next Monday, December 16th at 11:59 PM PST. Once the sweepstakes closes, we will select the winners at random and announce their names during a 30-minute live broadcast event presented by SUPConnect on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:00pm PST.
