PAPEETE, Tahiti - After holding out hope that the French Polynesia's largest SUP event, the Air France Paddle Festival, would take place this year, it has just been announced that the event will be canceled for 2020 and will resume once again in 2021. Event organizer Jerome Loisel released a statement about the event postponement. Check it out below.
Dear Athletes,
The health crisis of Covid-19 will unfortunately have been stronger than our optimism and our determination for this year 2020. After 2 postponements, and despite many registrants, the 7th edition of the PADDLE FESTIVAL, scheduled for Saturday 05 December 2020, will unfortunately not be able to be this year.
Despite the efforts made and the significant financial investment done to organize these 3 successive events dates announced in 2020, the decisions to prohibit all sports competitions taken jointly by the Polynesian Government and the French State this last November 13th, force us to postpone the Paddle Festival to 2021.
You have trained a lot, we have put a lot of energy, commitment including financial, to unfortunately have to postpone the event once again so close to the date. Our disappointment is huge, as certainly yours, but we understand this decision taken by our political leaders which aims to protect our Islands for the good of our families. The registration refund procedure will be communicated to you on our Facebook Page.
We wish you a great and healthy end to the year. See you in 2021! We thank you for your confidence.
Sportingly,
The Manager of 4 Events Pacific
