APP Introduces Viana SUP Open to 2023 Schedule

PORTUGAL - The APP is excited to introduce the Viana SUP Open, an all-new venue for 2023 that will bring the World Tour to Portugal for the first time. The beautiful town of Viana do Castelo is set to the backdrop of beautiful mountains behind and the Atlantic Ocean in front, with a beautiful river that meanders through the mountains and ends up in Viana where it meets the Ocean. As such, it is an outdoor sports paradise, with all the natural resources you could ask for to get outside and active and providing something for absolutely everyone. The Viana SUP Open will be held from 14th–16th July.

As one of the 'Marquee' events of the 2023 season, the Viana SUP Open will deliver one of the most comprehensive racing events of the season, from World Class competition all the way through to introductory participation, youth and health and wellness clinics, all at the heart of Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

Following the exciting Sprint action from Alicante, you can expect an intensified battle for supremacy here at Stop #2, while the distance race will feature an incredible downwind course, powered by the infamous 'nortada' that is in full effect during the summer. However, it is not just about the Pros, as there will be racing opportunities for all, whether a passionate downwind enthusiast, or competitive paddler wanting to take on one of the selection of 'river courses' that will take place right in front of the event site at Praia Fluvial do Barracão dos Touros.

In addition, the APP will support the Viana do Castelo chapter of APPACDM and their 'sports for all' initiative, providing unique on water experiences for everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability. The APP will also deliver its unique pool experiences, from introductory sessions to SUP Yoga and Pilates sessions in addition to all the other programming.
