SAN DIEGO, California - Local San Diegan, Geno Jenkins, saw a need in the surf and SUP industry and in 2006 he created a simple solution for quick and easy UV protection for boards. A simple slip on UV Cover called a Topless Boardbag and it's made in San Diego. This pioneering UV Cover is installed on the bottom of boards and hugs the rails leaving the topside 75% open. It actually keeps boards over 30 degrees cooler versus uncovered boards and it slips on in seconds. It stretches and conforms to any shape of board and offers instant UV shade with hassle free to and from the water UV protection.
The material is made of heavy duty polyester and spandex just like swim suits and has double material on the tail and nose area for added protection with a single fin slit. The material stretches any side fins just push the material up but don't cut through. The hem has a heavy duty bungee cord inside keeping the UV cover snug on the board and yes you can drive with the board covered with no flapping straps from bulky board bags. The UV cover for 8' to 9'.6" SUP boards offers a custom three fin cut out. The other sizes cover boards from 9.6 to 11, 11 to 12.6 including race boards and 14 foot boards.
"I like the fact it's made in the USA and I love how easy I can protect my boards between races" said SUPIA Executive Director Kristin Thomas.
