SUP Indoor World Cup: Shocking Upsets and Epic Wins

DÜSSELDORF, Germany - The EuroTour 2025 season kicked off in spectacular fashion at the Indoor World Cup held at boot Düsseldorf in Germany. The event was packed with thrilling races, big upsets, and incredible performances, making for an unforgettable finals day.
Women’s Sprint Finals
In the women’s final, Alba Frey from Spain claimed the top spot after a fierce battle with Puerto Rico’s Mari Carmen Rivera. Despite a strong start from the reigning EuroTour 2024 champion, a fall during a buoy turn gave Frey the edge to take the win in a tightly contested race. Katniss Paris from the USA secured the third spot on the podium after edging out Spain’s Susak Molinero in a close fight for fourth. Italy’s Cecilia Pampinella rounded out the top five with the best time in the quarterfinals, proving she’s in great shape for the season ahead.

Men’s Sprint Finals
The men’s final saw Spain dominating once again as Manuel Hoyuela triumphed over his compatriot Ivan de Frutos. Hoyuela celebrated his birthday with a maiden EuroTour victory, delivering a convincing performance. De Frutos was not far behind, adding to Spain’s strong showing.
Brazil’s Eri Tenorio finished third after an impressive performance, defeating Spain’s Unax Etxeberria, who had earlier pulled off a stunning quarterfinal victory over Japan’s Shuri Araki, the undefeated champion from EuroTour 2024. Rounding out the top five was Denmark’s Christian Andersen, who posted the best time in the quarterfinals.

Junior Highlights
The Kids and Juniors embraced the exciting sprint dual format, with intense and closely contested battles. Notably, the youngest competitor, an 11-year-old from Japan, claimed victory in the U14 division, showcasing the promising future of the sport.
A Successful Start to the Season
The event’s success was due in no small part to the incredible support of boot Düsseldorf, which provided athletes with a fantastic platform to introduce the sport to new audiences.
