Who is it for?
If you’re looking for a board that will be very durable for you to have for yourself, your kids, friends and family that can be beaten up, thrown around and still last for a long time, this is the board for you. The Baja 100 is a perfect board for flat water paddling and touring and can withstand up to 230lbs. The board is made out of a plastic-like construction called RamXs polyethylene and is very stable and very durable however, the board has 4.7 lbs per foot and weighs 47 lbs total, making the board very heavy. As it's typically the case with low price point boards, the Baja 100 is relatively heavier when compared to boards in higher price point tiers. You’re going to want to look at the mid-to high price-point range boards for lighter and faster boards. Retailing for $399.99, the Baja 100 is among the most affordable boards you can find.
First Impressions
On first impressions, the graphics and color are good, the shape design is quite average and the construction seems incredibly strong. The board has a clean look with a nice design on the deck pad. This paddle board is very difficult to carry since it’s 47 lbs however, the board seems extremely strong and long-lasting. The glide feels slow and heavy which is to be expected since speed-centric design and lightweight construction are not at focus. The Baja 100 features some nice and convenient bungee cords that help to hold down gear, water bottles or almost anything you want to bring along for the ride that needs securing. There is a cup holder that you can either lay down the bottle or have it sit upright, your call. Another cool feature from the Baja 100 is its many handles, 4 total, allowing for numerous points for holding the board. At a very affordable price point of $399.99 the Baja 100 from Pelican is an excellent choice for beginner to expert paddlers who are looking for something durable, affordable and fun.
