2016 flew by in the blink of an eye and we’re just days away from ringing in a new year. One great thing about the year coming to a close is getting to have a look back at the year and remember all that happened. Here, we’d like to have a look back at some amazing photos submitted to us throughout the year by our audience.
It’s true that today’s broad surfing community holds a varied and often questionable understanding of surfing etiquette. Add a few individuals with entitlement issues, a couple more with a lack of common courtesy and respect and we have a recipe for a potential bummer of a surf session. Here’s a few thoughts on how to stay stoked through the lineup.
There’s a huge debate going on in the SUP world about whether or not paddlers should wear a leash and/or a PFD. One or the other? Both? The video here showcases the perfect example of why paddle boarders must always wear a leash, especially during a downwinder. The video shows just how fast your board can get away from you and leave you stranded out in the middle of the ocean with nothing to keep you afloat.
Between wind, weather, chop, swell, no babysitter, working too many hours and missing daylight, and a plethora of other reasons, sometimes the day just doesn’t allow for getting on the water. So, while we can accept the fact that indoor SUP training definitely is not as stress-relieving and euphoric as actually being on the water, it does have quite a few benefits. And when done appropriately, can be affordable AND highly effective.
The Vail Whitewater Race Series is a Tuesday night race series put on by Alpine Quest Sports. Every week the top competitors receive points for how well they finish.
